PROVIDING QUALITY KAVA FROM VANUATU
We provide nothing but quality products. Our Kava is sourced from the best dried Kava grown in Vanuatu, by selected farmers that organically grow Kava in the volcanic islands. The Kava Plant is cultivated and harvested using traditional methods.
This magical plants origins have been traced back to Vanuatu where botanists Lebot, Merlin, and Lindstrom an investigative team did extensive research in the 80’s. They learned that Vanuatu's land contained the largest varieties of Kava. These varieties are more intoxicating than other varieties of Kava grown in other places.
Vanuatu has almost 80 varieties of Kava, but only noble varieties can be exported to the global market. Only the most desirable strains for everyday drinking are selected to be noble varieties to maintain quality control. Their laws mandate that exported kava must be at least five years old and farmed organically.
"IT TAKES A VILLAGE"
Historically Kava was served in South Pacific cultures and used as a drink during religious activities & ceremonies. Today in Vanuatu there are a large number of Kava Bars also referred to as Nakamals. In the rural areas, Nakamals are only open to men and Kava is served in a coconut shell. In urban areas, you will find Nakamals open to both men and women, and Kava served in plastic or glass bowls.
Following Fijian traditions, we strive to keep the Kava tradition alive by acting as a community with a family atmosphere at our three locations. We provide a fun, friendly and safe environment for any and all looking for a natural alternative to alcohol. We are family friendly, and Bula Kafe and Bula On the Beach are Pet-Friendly!
We are a gathering place, a part of the daily routine. It's not unusual to see people coming to our Kava Bars to chat, meet up, or even work, and we couldn't be happier about it. We welcome newcomers and make them feel at home, and many newcomers eventually become part of the Bula Tribe. Bula Nation Kava Bars are open to the community for the holidays, and there's nothing like spending the holidays with family!
